255 Journal

255 Journal
Object: Journal with magnetic closure

Acquired: Christmas 2010

From: Ella

Dates: May 4, 2011 - June 26, 2011

Notes: I know this one was from Ella because Lydia only got me lined journals with spiral bindings.  I'm starting to forget with a few of the others, though.  I don't have a preference for the spiral-bound and lined notebooks anymore, but Lydia and I haven't exactly been living in the same place recently, so she can be forgiven for not knowing that.

It's funny, but the magnetic clasp on this journal made me very paranoid.  See, I keep my journal and my kindle in the same place, but ever since an unfortunate accident with the TV and a very strong magnet, I've been very, very wary of putting magnets (even weak ones) near my technology.  I'm pretty sure technology is mostly protected against stray low-level magnets, and I don't think it's as much of a problem as it was back when people had CRT monitors, but I'm still paranoid.  So I had to keep my kindle in a slightly different place, which wasn't as convenient. Now I don't have to, although one of my blank journals has a magnetic clasp....

253 Journal

253 Journal
Object: Cat journal

Acquired: 2010

From: Mom, who got it at a garage sale

Dates: April 9, 2011 - May 3, 2011

Notes: I wish Mom would stop buying journals for me at garage sales, since she has no idea what I like in a journal.  Folk art, for example, has never been one of my preferences. Although I suppose there's a chance that I might have bought it for myself if I'd been there.

252 Journal

252 Journal
Object: Journal

Acquired: Christmas 2010

From: Lydia

Dates: January 16, 2011 - April 8, 2011

Notes:I'm pretty sure this is one of the journals from Lydia.

A lot happens in this journal, too. This is the one where Grandma died, my niece was born AND I met my boyfriend. Also, it contains the getting of my job (as small and pathetic as it is).  Normally the excitement in my journals is me whining about having to do the dishes or something. This is different.

113 Journal

113 Journal
Object: Journal insert for my leather "traveler's journal" cover

Acquired: Probably 2010

From: Barnes and Nobles

Dates: July 6, 2010 - September 14, 2010

Notes: This was the second or so insert for the leather cover. It's funny to think that I avoided buying the cover for such a long time specifically because it was refillable, and I thought I would be obligated to reuse it if I had it, and I didn't particularity want to reuse it.  Now that I have it, I think it's the awesomest idea ever--so long as I can still use other journals sometimes, of course.

112 Journal

112 Journal
Object: "Life Stories; an Autobiographical Journal"

Acquired: 2010

From: Good Will

Dates: November 2, 2010 - December 29, 2010

Notes: This is a guided journal, where each page has a few questions to answer with the idea being that when you reach the end you'll have written your autobiography--or at least collected a bunch of 'the good old days' stories in one place for your grandkids. I didn't treat the questions seriously and just went ahead and used the space for my daily journaling, but it was pretty funny, I must say.

Also it included a set of stickers.  Because nothing says 'heirloom' like stickers.

110 Journal

110 Journal
Object: Moleskine journal decorated with Mushi-shi postcard

Acquired: Christmas 2009, decorated spring 2010

From: Ella, see notes

Dates: April 14, 2010 - April 28, 2010

Notes: This is the last of my self-decorated journals, thank goodness. It has another Mushi-shi postcard from another Mushi-shi dvd. I love that anime. It's so, SO pretty...

109 Journal

109 Journal
Object: Moleskine journal decorated with collectable Mushi-shi postcard

Acquired: Christmas 2009, decorated spring 2010

From: Ella, see notes

Dates: April 29, 2010 - May 14, 2010

Notes: Yet another decorated journal. The Mushi-shi postcard came in one of the Mushi-shi dvds. I didn't actually put my favorite cards on the journals, but instead I used the ones I didn't want to decorate my room with. Not that this one isn't pretty--they are all pretty. Just, you know, it's not one I wanted to hang up.

Also, it's funny because I wrote these past few journals while I was at the Bad Job last spring, and I'm almost scared to read what's in them, since I'm still not over it. Which makes it interesting to try and find the dates.  Oh well, at least there's not much left from this time period.

108 Journal

108 Journal
Object: Moleskine journal decorated with Madison postcard of State Street

Acquired: Christmas 2009, decorated spring 2010

From: Ella, see notes

Dates: May 14, 2010 - May 30, 2010

Notes: This is another one from Ella that I decorated. I have no idea where the postcard came from, but it was in a bunch of them with many repeats.  Most of them are oldish Wisconsin/Madison postcards. I think they are pretty cool.

This particular postcard is of State Street, and it's particularly interesting because it shows cars on State Street, and if you live in Madison you'd know that State Street does not have traffic on it; no cars allowed (buses, bikes, delivery and law enforcement are okay, though).

107 Journal

107 Journal
Object: Journal with magnetic clasp and funny "informative" bits

Acquired: 2010

From: Good Will

Dates: September 15, 2010 - November 1, 2010

Notes: It took me a few minutes to figure out how to open this one, and then when I did I found it has a bunch of poorly-translated conversion tables and such at the back. Hilarious.

102 Journal

102 Journal
Object: Pretty recycled fairy journal

Acquired: 2009

From: A tiny store in...Northampton, MA

Dates: January 24, 2010 - April 12, 2010

Notes: I mixed up the year in the first date in here. Silly.

I still think this journal is pretty, and I'd buy it again if I had the chance.  Well, not again again, since I already have it once, but if I were to go back to that day and that store and have the option re-presented to me, I would certainly buy it again.

Also, it seems I used the same color ink on the first and last entries. I have the strong feeling that was intentional, but I can't quite remember...maybe I wrote it down, hang on...  AH! a quote from the journal: "I'd like to point out on more thing though; unintentionally, this is the same color I used in the first entry in this journal.  How's that for coincidence?" Guess it wasn't intentional, then.

101 Journal

101 Journal
Object: Ugly journal

Acquired: Christmas 2010

From: Cousin Esther

Dates: December 29, 2010 - January 15, 2011

Notes: It came with a 'matching' pencil that has a crystal on the end. How fun. I never would have bought it for myself, but since I had it, I figured I had better fill it. And then I accidentally started writing in it upside-down, so I just went with it.

100 Journal

100 Journal
Object: Home-decorated journal

Acquired: Christmas 2009, decorated spring 2010

From: Ella, see notes

Dates: May 31, 2010 - July 5, 2010

Notes: Ella gave me this journal as an insert for a leather journal cover, but it was the wrong size (even though she went out of her way to make sure it was right, whoops), so I decided to decorate it instead.  The picture is from a card that I got at Savers. It's a little cutesier than I usually prefer, but I had that exact stationary as a kid, so I HAD to buy it (shopping! it's addictive!). Mine was originally in a matching tin, which might even still be around somewhere.
