222 Wisconsin Jewelry Set

222 Wisconsin Jewelry Set
Object: Wisconsin pin with cow earrings and necklace

Acquired: Unknown

From: Mom, who got it at a garage sale

Notes: The two cows on the pin (state) are actually earrings, so you can store them with the pin and necklace. I suppose you could also were them as just cows on the state, but I'm personally more likely to wear earrings than a pin, especially a pin that has two holes in it.

I like these too much to get rid of, although I've almost never worn them.

198 Diamond Earrings

198 Diamond earrings
Object: One pair Diamond earrings in their box

Acquired: Christmas 2000-something

From: Tante

Notes: Tante got diamond earrings for all her nieces and fancy watches for all her nephews (and the few in-laws we had then). They are fancy and sparkly, but I'm still not that fond of diamonds, even if they are my birthstone.  Still, I wear these for fancy occasions, when safety pins just won't do.

I'm not sure how I feel about posting these, since it's like I'm listing all my valuables--this way the robbers will know just where to look, and what to find.  But I guess no one reads this (yet?) so it doesn't matter that much. If it ever does, please don't rob me. I promise it's not worth it.

185 Rabbit Earring

185 Rabbit Earring
Object: One Sterling Silver Rabbit Earring

Acquired: Unknown

From: Tiny store

Notes: I wore these earrings for years and years and years. My friends used to think they were spoons, when they were upside-down. I still barely see the spoons, but it became a code of sorts; "I see you're wearing spoons today" meant that I had to twist my earrings right-side up. Very clever.

Then, one day in math class I was fiddling with the earrings and I pulled one out, but it flipped out of my hand and was never seen again.  I'm still sad about it. And that was the beginning of the long, slow slide into letting my ears close up.  I'm planning to do better this time, though. With changing earrings, and maybe owning more than one pair that I wear regularly.

184 Tinkerbell Earring

184 Tinkerbell Earring
Object: Tinkerbell earring

Acquired: December 2000

From: Disney World via Ella

Notes: I think I mentioned it in object 172, but I was looking for a new pair of silver earrings I could wear all the time.  I picked these out, and they were kind of expensive, but Ella got them for me for Christmas.  I wore them for a while, but the posts were long, and the earring itself is long, so one evening one of them caught on my pillow or something, and it fell out.  Never saw it again. And that's about when I stopped regularly wearing earrings.

182 Fish Earrings

182 Fish Earrings
Object: Tropical Fish Earrings

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: These fish are actually bigger than the earrings in object 181, and I don't wear them either. I keep them because they are like a collection since I have two pairs of bright fish earrings.

181 Fish Jewelry Set

181 Fish Jewelry Set
Object: Fish Jewelry Set

Acquired: Unknown

From: These were a gift from my godmother

Notes: You can tell the scale from the hand (that's my hand! Something else I own!). They are too big and too brightly colored for me to ever really wear, but I keep them because they were a gift from my godmother, and even if she's not a fairy, there's sure to be something magical about them....right?

180 Feather Earrings

180 Feather Earrings
Object: Feather Earrings

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: I bought these to complete my crazy Halloween costume of amazingness, which they do admirably well, but lately I haven't been taking them all the places I take my costume, so they don't always get worn.

179 Troll Earrings

179 Troll Earrings
Object: Troll Earrings

Acquired: The '80s or early '90s

From: Unknown

Notes: Trolls were popular back then. I never wore these much, but I was very pleased to have them. Crazy toll hair.

178 Earrings

178 Earrings
Object: One pair earrings with purple stone (amethyst?)

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: I honestly have no idea where these came from. They are pretty, and seem to be sterling silver. My first thought was, why don't I wear these every day?? but then I put them on and realized that the posts are too long, and rather jab my behind the ear. But now I've been wearing them for a few days, and it's not so bad.  Not as fun as object 175, though.

The stone is actually a light blue-purple. You can't tell from the picture, I know.

177 Earrings

177 Earrings
Object: One pair turtle earrings

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: Turtle earrings. I like turtles. This was the other pair I decided to keep, mostly because I'm fairly certain they aren't from a garage sale. I had about eight pairs of turtle earrings before the purge; now I have two.

176 Earrings

176 Earrings
Object: One pair dragon earrings

Acquired: 2010

From: Etsy

Notes: This was one of the first things I bought on Etsy, and I'd hoped that they would be another pair of sterling silver earrings I could wear forever, but they are a bit too large for constant wear, and they like to catch on my scarf in the winter (it's a long scarf which gets wrapped several times around my neck), so they aren't as wonderful as I'd hoped, but I do wear them from time to time.

175 Earrings

175 Earrings
Object: One pair safety-pin earrings

Acquired: 2009

From: A Boutique on State Street

Notes: My ex bought these for me, but it was when my ears were closed up (they are half the reason I got them pierced again), so I didn't even start wearing them until we broke up.  Now I wear them almost every day, and when I remember that they were a gift from my ex, I worry that people will think it's some sort of residual feeling that keeps me wearing them, but really I was all set to buy them myself, only the clerks weren't paying attention to me, so I was about to walk away when he stepped forward and got them. It's almost like I got them myself, and I really really like them, so who cares how I got them?

The new boy can buy me another pair if he learns and is upset about it.

174 Earrings

174 Earrings
Object: One pair turtle earrings

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: I think this might have been another pair intended to replace the one I'd lost, but I'm not sure.  I believe that it was my first pair of turtle earrings, and it seems to be actual sterling silver. The blue might be a real stone, too.

172 Disney Earrings

172 Disney Earrings

Object: 3 pairs Micky Mouse earrings

Acquired: December 2000

From: Disney World

Notes: You can see I lost one of the earrings.  Not too long before we went to Disney, I'd lost one of a pair of earrings I'd worn non-stop for YEARS, and to make up for it I was looking for new earrings while we were there.  These are some of the ones I got. I can't sleep with them in, but I still like them years later, so I guess that's fine.  They are just a subtle bit of sparkle when I want it.

Also, one of the earrings was missing for several years, so I pulled it's partner out and stuck it with my other earrings that I loved even though their partners were gone.  When I first listed these, there were only five earrings, but then I knew where they were, so when I was going through the 'lost earring' compartment of my jewelry box, lo and behold! there was another one. I like to imagine it's like when a person gets amnesia and forgets their SO, and they tell the SO that the other person is dead, and that's just how life is for a few years until it's discovered that the amnesiac was actually working for the mob all along, but no one thought to tell the SO that it'd all been a lie.

And then everyone lives happily ever after.

173 Dream Catcher Earrings

173 Dream Catcher Earrings

Object: Dream catcher earrings

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: I think I got these at a pow-wow that was near my summer camp.  We went there as a staff several summers, and I have a bunch of stuff from there. I love dream catchers, but in retrospect I wish I'd gone with the single-colored-stone pair.  Still, these are nice.

171 Earrings

171 Earrings
Object: One pair diamond butterfly earrings

Acquired: April 25, 2010

From: The Piercing Pagoda

Notes: This was my birthday present to myself last year; getting my ears re-pierced.  They'd only closed up in the past three or four years, and at first I hadn't minded that fact, but then I wanted to wear earrings again, and I couldn't, so...I got them redone.  I'd wear these more often if the backs were so bloody hard to get on and off.  And the posts are pointy, so it's not a great idea to wear them with other backs.

170 Earrings

170 Earrings
Object: One pair dangly earrings

Acquired: 2001ish

From: Unknown

Notes: These are the earring I wore to senior prom. I didn't have a date, but I did drag my friends along and get to see them in dresses (a VERY uncommon occurrence), which was fun.  These are just plastic, but Mom lent me an onyx necklace that they matched to wear, so that was okay.  Prom was interesting, but not that fun.

169 Earrings

169 Earrings

Object: One pair unicorn earrings

Acquired: around age 9

From: Unknown, possibly wherever I got my ears pierced.

Notes: This, aside from object 166, is probably the oldest pair of earrings I own. I don't wear them because the horn tends to stab me, and they like to catch on things, but the sentimental value is still high, and they are still something that I would wear.

168 Earrings

168 Earrings
 Object: Two pairs Halloween earrings

Acquired: Unknown

From: Unknown

Notes: I got these in a set of three or four, although I've log since gotten rid of the other pairs because I never wore them.  These I wear around Halloween sometimes.

167 Earrings

167 Earrings
Object: One pair battle axe earrings with skulls

Acquired: Unknown

From: Garage sale

Notes: I hardly ever wear these, partly because I don't have a chain mail shirt to match, and partly because I got them at a garage sale and that usually weirds me out with earrings. Although I've probably had them for a decade, so I should get over that. But even though I never wear them I still can't bring myself to get rid of them.
