Notes: These are another night-hike item, used for showing how you can't see color in the dark I took the yellow out because it's an obvious color, even in the dark--but you can't see it written on your skin, so it's not really fun to use anyway.

I suspect that most of these are dead by now, so on that distant day when I finally go through my NH kit and toss everything out (except the rocks, of course), these will go, too.

Notes: When you chew wintergreen mints--either the lifesavers or the Altoids variety--in the dark there are little glows of light that appear in your mouth.  Obviously that was part of the Night Experience. This tin is left over from that, and I should probably get rid of it, but I can't bring myself to cull the Night Hike Box yet, so I'll keep it for now.

Notes: My older sister had a pirate and princess themed wedding, which was really neat. But one of the wedding favors they gave out was these eye patches.  They had a whole bunch of them left over at the end of the wedding, and I said I'd take them because I could use them on night hike.

And I did use them on night hike for several seasons after that, making my night hike the coolest.  but not really because the kids kept taking the patches off, and then whining when they couldn't see the trick.

Notes: The first NC site that I worked at would hike Mount Monadnock every week (ideally; it wasn't really every week), and so I've been up and down this mountain a whole lot.  It's the second most summited mountain in the world (after Mt. Fuji--way after Mt. Fuji), and I know a whole bunch of useless facts about it now, thanks to hiking it so often.  It's a nice mountain, though.

And the bandana is a dark purple, which my camera refused to picture properly, while the text is white, not pinkish like it turned after I was done trying to make the purple purple with photo-editing software.

Notes: It was a tiny textile and imports store, with like thread and African card cloth and worry dolls and so forth.  They were having a going out of business sale, so I got some neat stuff, one of which was this.  I like it, it's got...a pattern. I use it to decorate my room usually, although right now it's just living with the other bandanas. It's faded a bit over the years, too.

Notes: Mom found this in Grandma's stuff, which she was going through after grandma died. On one hand I think it's a Cool Thing and I don't mind owning it, but on the other hand, as you can see from the picture, it still has the original tousit papers. Like the flyers for the tourist trap it's from, the ticket my grandmother used to get in and THE RECEIPT.  I'm tempted to just go ahead and throw the papers out, but since I got them from my grandmother I feel like they are Heirlooms now, as if these things will ever be worth something some day.

So this is another reason I have too much stuff; being given things that you cannot get rid of, not because the giver would be upset--actually. Hmm. Mom gave them to me, and if I toss the papers in the recycling she wouldn't notice, and it's not like Grandma will care. Any inheritors I eventually have will probably thank me for not leaving them with this crap. Well, I'll think about it.

Notes: I have no idea where this came from. I'm not even sure I know what it IS, for that matter. I mean, obviously is says Antigo, Wis on it, and that is the ntow near my summer camp, so it might somehow be related to that. But honestly the ...badge looks too old to be from 2000-2005 when I worked at camp, and when I was just a camper I wouldn't have had much of a chance to find such a thing. It more likely I found it in a box around the house and then claimed it because of its relation to the town near my camp. But the world will never know.

Notes: Ella actually gave me money, which I took and used to buy something on Etsy.  I usually get a stuffed rabbit around Easter and/or my birthday (which were right after each other this year), but I'm running out of space in my life, and I wanted to promote Etsy shops what actually have people crafting in them, so I bought this little guy, who came with a lovely needle-felted acorn. His head is a bit small, but I love him anyway.

I guess he's technically not stuffed, but he's fiber, so it's like the same thing.

Notes: Is there anything creepier than keeping half of one of your baby teeth? Do I tag this as something I made? Why do I keep it in my jewelry box? WHY DID I KEEP IT in the first place??!!

Actually, I think it's a little bit neat that I have even half a tooth. I mean, it's a bit creepier than keeping, say, your first cut lock of hair (which I believe my mom has in an envelope somewhere), but for some very odd reason every time I see this half-tooth I think how sad I'd be if I owned none of my baby teeth.  The whole tooth-fairy thing is to help kids NOT DO THAT, of course, but...I dunno. Maybe I can make it into a really creepy memento necklace someday. Something for the grandkids to treasure.

Notes: Mom used to make these angels to sell in her booth at craft sales.  She would buy lacy antique handkerchiefs at garage sales, ect, and then make them into these, which was one of her best sellers.  She doesn't make them anymore, though. But also she sells supplies now, so I guess it makes sense.

The particular angel is less lacy than most, but you can see that it has an 'A' on it--for Amy.  It is one of a set of three, although I don't know if all three were made into angels.  I know two were, but I can't recall about the third.

It lives in my jewelry box so it doesn't get crushed.

Notes: At Ella's baby shower we were supposed to bring baby pictures of ourselves, and somehow the task of locating them fell to me.  But I'm not very good with faces (one might go so far as to say I'm terrible, although I'm not as bad as I fear I am), so I couldn't even recognize myself in most of the pictures, let alone my mother, whose picture I was also supposed to be locating.

After I told this as a humorous story to any who would listen at the shower, my mom got offended when I claimed there were no pictures of me there, so she dug out all of these and then forced me to take them, even though I do not collect pictures (that's why I journal) and have no place or desire to own these.

Notes: I originally stuck these in the pot of one of my plants (after removing them from the cake), where they remained for several years until my mom took them out, washed them and returned them to me with a vaguely disgusted look. I think I understand why, but it's not like they were harming the plant any more than my lack of watering did. I'm not really sure why I'm still keeping them, but I guess you never know when you'll need to put vaguely dirt-flavored candles on a birthday cake.

Unless it all ends in flame, and I list these as 'lost' (which is the tag I plan to use for items that leave my possession in one way or another).
